Project Summary:
The iD+Pi is assisting Acoma Pueblo with a conceptual redevelopment plan of a brownfield site that is a former site of the old McCarty Day School. A professional iD+Pi team began this work during the Fall 2018 semester. A graduate architectural student is focusing on the architectural programming of the site; and a graduate planning student is focusing on the community engagement component. Additionally, the iD+Pi team is conducting research on case studies of other tribal brownfield sites involving old school grounds, as well as, history of the site’s legacy of the old day school. The costs for the project team’s salaries, iD+Pi coordination, travel, food, materials/supplies, and printing are supported through the Kansas State University’s Tribal Technical Assistance to Brownfields Program.
